Project 1 Model
These are some photos of our model under construction and finished. Our idea was based around rare architecture and the tetris. We had our model all cut out and made on the laser cutter.

Research
I've been looking at different environmental flooring systems. One environmental solution i have found is bamboo flooring which i think would work well in a school situation as spils and other mess would be easy to clean up. Bammboo is environmentaly good because its grows much faster than hardwood floors which would otherwise be used in a timber floor situation. Also once bamboo has been harvested the tree and continue to grow also all the glues and finished used on the floor is no toixic and they are sent out in recycled packaging which i think makes them a great choice.

Research
We have been looking at different walling system that can or could be incorporated into out mod5. ModCell is one of these walling systems that we have been looking at. The web site is http://www.modcell.co.uk/. We have been looking at it because it is meant to be carbon negative and will create good thermal mass for the building and insulation. The ModCells are basically straw bail panels that can be mad to any size and are extremely transportable which makes them perfect for our building.
These are some pictures of modcell

This is ModCell being moved around their factory as you can see its extremely transportable

These are the tech specs of the modcell:
ModCell™ Panels are available in two variants:ModCell Straw™ ModCell Hemp™Both can be dry-lined or rendered. Lime render and plasters conform to mortar category CSII according to BS EN 998-1; Contain hydraulic lime as the bonding agent; and are breathable (water and vapour permeable). ModCell™ Panels are delivered to site with a two layer render finish in and out. Finish skim coats are site applied off of a scaffold or cherry picker to internal and external grades.
Dry-lining finishes vary from project to project, ModCell™ can factory fix the battening for dry-lining, but do not supply the dry-lining materials.
ModCell™ panels can be lifted into position on site using a telescopic arm or crane. The mass of the largest ModCell™ panel is 1.7 tonnes. Panels are located with a 20mm gap between each and are sealed using compressible tapes.
Weathering details vary from project to project and are not supplied by ModCell™.

First Day activiy
These are mine and my groups models from the first day. The aim of the day was to make a model using the least materials as possible but making the most space as possible.
